Leeds United and The First Two Signing

After considering for a while, I have decided to go with Leeds United as my first team to manage in Football Manager 2012.

Leeds United, the team I picked.

Few other teams that I have considered include West Ham United, Birmingham City FC and Hull City FC but in my opinion, their team consist too many good players that promotion to the Premier League is almost guaranteed. Not challenging and it would be of no fun if it's too easy.

Leeds United, on the other hand, have a decent squad although the financial part would mean that only small amount of transfer budget will be provided. It would be challenging as I have never manage Leeds United before.

Cutting short my story, I have already make 2 new signings to the existing squad.

One young midfielder, one veteran defender.

For midfield, I have signed Jay Spearing from Liverpool Football Club. It's interesting to see that once you started the game, young promising midfielder like Jay Spearing is already being transfer listed.

At the age of 22, Spearing definitely still have a lot to offer to the team. His stamina, position, teamwork and work rate all over 15. These are actually the main attributes that we are looking for in a midfielder. Thus, he is a fairly good midfielder for his age. What matters most is Kenny Dalglish, the manager at Liverpool is willing to accept at monthly installment payment for this transfer. Anyway, I will be looking forward to see what he will be able to offer to the team!

The next signing happened to be a free signing. Cant ignore the fact that he is a good footballer but he made himself a name in World Cup after being headbutted by Zinedine Zidane.  Yes, he is the man called Marco Matterazi.
Remember this? In a world cup few years back!

Although he is now 37 years old (in game), I think he still has a lot to offer to the team. Marking at 14, Concentration at 13, more than enough for league games in Championship division. 16 for position and work rate, 14 for teamwork...You couldn't ask more from a 37 veteran defender. More importantly, he got 16 for his strength. More than enough to hold back big striker like Peter Crouch, Darrent Bent and others although he is not going to meet them unless we get promoted.

Also take note that he has 17 for heading and 16 for jumping. That would make him a good goal threat to the opponent when it comes to corner. All these makes him a good bargain signing.

Hmm, that's all for today. I think I am looking forward for few more signings before getting ready for the league to kick off!
